How appropriate for this time of year:

Sesame Street + True Blood = True Mud

Makes me love SS even more.

My Secret Parents

November 11, 2009

A lot of kids like to think they were adopted, that the people who act as their parents really are not so.  You know you’ve wondered if you really came from the people who raised you at one point or another in your life, haven’t you?

Twas the case of Roxy Carmichael, for those of you who don’t remember the movie- here’s the cover:

Roxy tends to farm animals and waits for her “real (famous/[hooker]) mom” to come and get her one day.

With the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street going on this week, I finally figured out from whom I am descended.

I make this particular Kermit face all the time:

and I have the posture and poise of Grover.

Though not a proponent of limiting what people can watch, I’m glad my folks chose Sesame Street for me. I am just now figuring out the show’s influence on me at this point in my life.

@joaniefox told me critics of the show had predicted it was going to raise a generation of future drug abusers. Well, two generations later, the show has raised someone who makes weird faces and thinks having blue fur would not be a bad thing, and who loves to ride bikes.
